While everyone sleeps in our private room in the L'Auberge de la Paix hostel in the heart of the Upper Village of Old Quebec, I will attempt to publish our first post on our travel blog. Katy has another "first post" started so we'll say this is really the second of the first. I have also just discovered that I am writing this on one of the two blogs we have attempted to start and as I get ready to publish am not sure how to do it...or on which blog...all too confusing for me....so....it will wait till the morning to see if the next generation can combine the two blogs and officially make our first post!!!!
Why am I awake while everyone else sleeps at 12:24? Well, after our first full day in Old Quebec, including a 2 hour walking tour, several hours experiencing the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of New France at the New France Festival, a "busking" show of acrobatics, a one man band and a bag lady gone professional juggler/entertainer and concluding with an unbelievably creative multimedia movie projected onto the largest movie screen in the world (a long series of white grain silos across from the city) www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXfYMwA you would think that I too would be asleep with the rest of the family. However, my two hour nap in the afternoon, after a honey bee had the nerve to leave a stinger on my cheek during the crazy lady's busking show and my first official french "espresso" in one of those cute little cups -zing- has made this late night blog entry possible! To think I didn't even drink coffee until two years ago when I officially turned 40! Oh yes and that reminds me Terry and the kids surprised me with a belated traditional French chocolate pear cake tonight for my August 5th "travelling birthday" as the day in Ottawa didn't allow for such luxeries.
I better retire and not use the line my kids keep using as they lay their tired little heads on the pillow late at night "Well it is really only 10:10 not 1:10" Can't keep using that time change excuse forever. Good night or should I say
Bonne noir!
